BRYNHYFRYD STUDENTS GAIN ‘OXBRIDGE’ OPPORTUNITIES

Year 12 6th Form student at Ysgol Brynhyfryd, Elen Edwards has gained a Summer School placement at Oxford University to study Biology. Elen wrote an essay to explain why she enjoys studying Biology and Elen decided to apply for a place at Oxford as she hopes to study Biochemistry there. This will be an amazing opportunity for Elen to have a taste of student life at the University in Oxford. Elen was pleased with her offer and said, “It has been my dream for many years to go to Oxford and now, through hard work and the fantastic support of the 6th Form and staff of Ysgol Brynhyfryd, I can take these steps to fulfilling my dream”. Sam Evans also from year 12 at Ysgol Brynhyfryd’s 6th Form was chosen to attend a residential taster course at Magdalen College, Cambridge at the end of March. Sam was given the opportunity to sample Cambridge University life through lectures at the college. Sam said of his experience, “It was amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I’m looking forward to fulfilling my ambition of attending University, thanks to Brynhyfryd and to Cambridge for the opportunity”. Mrs Manon Wilkinson, Head of 6th Form at Ysgol Brynhyfryd said, “We are so very proud of all our 6th formers, they are all so dedicated in achieving the very best they can.
